I was horrified by the recent murder of cartoonists in the Charlie Hebdo office in France. Abigail Friedman suggested I try to make a cartoon about it. She commented, “Shiki wrote haiku about disastrous earthquakes, so I think writing a topical haiku cartoon is possible.”
I’m not much of a political cartoonist, but I wanted to honor the memory of these fellow cartoonists.
What else can you do, in times like this, but keep on drawing.
