I know. Sometimes I think: “Basho wouldn’t like that comic: it lacks kindness/compassion.” Basho would never hurt a creature, even in his poems. When Kikaku, one of his disciple, wrote: A dragonfly remove it swings… a red pepper! (Kikaku) His master Basho thought the haiku was to cruel and replied with this version: a red pepper, add some wings, a dragonfly. (Basho) Perhaps Basho would insist that I resuscitate the dead dragonfly in the next comic. Reply ↓
sometimes I think a dark humour is a survival mechanism. maybe, if Basho was born in our times, he may also have one? or maybe not. masters tend to transcend the need for survival mechanisms. Reply ↓

I know. Sometimes I think: “Basho wouldn’t like that comic: it lacks kindness/compassion.”
Basho would never hurt a creature, even in his poems. When Kikaku, one of his disciple, wrote:
A dragonfly
remove it swings…
a red pepper! (Kikaku)
His master Basho thought the haiku was to cruel and replied with this version:
a red pepper,
add some wings,
a dragonfly. (Basho)
Perhaps Basho would insist that I resuscitate the dead dragonfly in the next comic.
